Cute LEGO builder on the 4th of July
Cute LEGO destroyer on the 4th of July
Once again we thanked ourselves for buying a circle house
She's not really as fast as she looks. But she thinks she is.
Look who can open doors now? Going to the bathroom will never be the same...
Delightfully taking video of John flying a kite
She actually almost blew a bubble. Mostly she just gets bubble juice all over her face.
John helped me take a few great photos of the kids, next to our annual flower garden and dressed in their 4th of July finest.
They were totally giggling at a large blue plastic airplane zooming above my head.
Heartwarming moment of the evening - Erin still watching the airplane, Dexter giving her a spontaneous, sweet, melt-your-heart hug.
The next morning the kids and I went berry picking while John gave the house a bath.
This one, I swear, is color blind. She would not survive in the wild. She did not enjoy blueberry picking because no matter how many times we pointed to yummy berries and yukky berries, she continued to eat the green ones.
For the first year ever, Dexter was a tremendously helpful berry picker. Like, he covered the bottom of his bucket in berries. He was awesome.
Took a little break between blueberries and black raspberries to slide on the strawberry slide.
Erin enjoyed playing with the doors til she lost her footing and slid unexpectedly down the slide. She was displeased.
Black raspberries. Dexter helped with the "yummy/yukky" berry explaining, and Erin seemed to like picking raspberries much better than blueberries.
Love black raspberries. So much.
Successful berry picking
Happy berry face
Big storms the first couple weeks of July. We lost power for 12 hours overnight during one of them. But we did see a pretty cool double rainbow over the pasture.
A few years ago Aunt Christy gifted Puff to Dexter. He'd been hanging quietly in Dexter's room for a while. And then Erin discovered him. Life is no longer quiet for Puff.
"I rice Puff?" she asks. Sure, kiddo. Have at it. Ride Puff.
Yes, go ahead. Stand on Puff, too. He likes it.
Supermoon at sunset. Dexter saw it the following night when we were driving home from a party.
Buddy is enjoying our new summer evening sitting on the deck and drinking a beer routine.
Super
We had a party to go to, and we were supposed to bring fruit. So I drafted Erin to help me pick while Dex was at Dinosaur Camp.
Bumper crop of berries this year.
Did some sliding after picking raspberries
More raspberry face. It's a bit of a theme with her.
Our annual Movie Night family BBQ was hosted at our friend Amy's house. She now lives a couple hours away from us, but it was worth the drive to visit her mansion and swim in her pool.
Dex was in the pool for a couple hours - he loved it.
Erin swam for a while, too, and jumped in a ton with a friendly 4 year old, and then needed a snack break. You know, for some raspberries.
Erin LOVED the roller-coaster car.
And also the cookies. She loved the cookies.
I dunno why he always chooses blue frozen treats
Rotten baby stole my absolute favorite strawberry ice cream novelty.
Dancing baby in the foreground, gaggle of boys in the background. Dex played SO WELL with these two boys. G (who lives there) had a gazillion LEGOS in his room and Dex was in heaven.
Movie Night girls
Both kids held themselves together pretty well all afternoon, despite staying up well past their bedtime. The car ride home was a different story. This little girl SUCKS to ride in the car with at night.
Sunday we were pretty low-key. And then we had to slum it and swim in our tiny little pool. It was a little different than the previous day's swim-fest at the party.
Doesn't seem to matter to the kids, though. They are pretty happy swimming, even in our tiny pool.
Happy July!!
